Accessories

A number of devices and accessories are available when building these systems. InCam have a range of products from a broad spectrum of suppliers to ensure we supply the most suitable items for your particular installation. A brief summary of some of the items particular projects may require are detailed below.

Housings

InCam can supply a wide range of housings and bracketry suitable for light or heavy-duty external work. Fixed position or dome housings allow operation of a wide range of cameras in different environments.

Housings may even be required in internal areas - such as dusty or cold environments (even freezers!). The site survey would assess if a particular internal camera position would warrant a housing by evaluating levels of dust and moisture/humidity and temperature levels.

All housings are sealed and rated according to their weather protection (IP rating - see below) and ability to withstand impact. Talk to us on +44 (0)1329 823020 or email info@incam.co.uk regarding vandal-proof or covert enclosures for specialised applications. A range of highly specialised housings for extreme cold/heat and explosion resistance is also available.

Infra-red Lamps (i/r)

Some of the cameras that we supply are infra-red enabled devices - capable of providing full-colour imagery during daylight before switching to high resolution black and white during darkness.

In order to support such a mode of operation, infra-red lamps are required to project an invisible light on to the area to be filmed by the camera. Such devices are specified by the angle of flood/distance and positioned carefully for the intended viewing area. Infra-red lamp installation is a specialised area that must be performed correctly in order to maximise the benefit from these cameras and lamps.

Lamps are available in various formats of angle and distance and further by level of covertness. Please see our infra-red page for further information.

Vehicle ANPR solutions (automatic number plate recognition)

InCam have a number of solutions for sites wishing to employ vehicle monitoring. These solutions combine excellent camera, lighting and software products enabling you to reliably track vehicles day or night, rain or shine.

Please see our ANPR page for further information.

Power over Ethernet (PoE)

It is also possible to remove the requirement of local power for internal cameras. Many network cameras are now power-over-ethernet capable - receiving their power and data via a single network cable. For those cameras that are not, there are still solutions to enable this feature.

By using power-over-ethernet 'active splitters' and a corresponding switch device, the cameras can act in the same way. This is possible as Cat5 cable incorporates unused strands of cable that can be used to carry the low voltages required for some of the cameras.

A number of PoE modules could be used to eradicate the requirement for all local power depending upon the specific cameras used in the installation. Not only does this remove the burden and cost associated with electrical work for each camera point, but it also allows the cameras, themselves, to be covered by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in the event of power failure.

Note that most pan/tilt/zoom cameras that employ motors for rotation can not currently use PoE technology since they demand more wattage than the PoE standard provides.

Wireless

Any camera can be made to operate across a wireless link. Some of the cameras InCam supply (such as the Axis 207W) are natively capable of wireless network operation. A detailed site survey will determine if a wireless configuration is suitable for a particular site and solution.

A wireless module could be used for each camera requiring to be connected wirelessly (projects can consist of a mix wireless and wired). Repeater stations can be placed around a building to stengthen data signals and buildings can be connected using 'bridge' repeaters and matched antennae. A survey and/or network tests would confirm the most effective and cost efficient solution for such connectivity.

Larger installations where signals are required to 'hop' between buildings or gantry-mounted equipment may require more powerful wireless hardware. Please contact us for specific requirements.

InCam have successfully deployed many wirelessly connected cameras - including external PTZ domes using securely encrypted links. This wireless technology still allows the camera to work at its maximum frame rate and image quality.

IP (ingress protection) Ratings; Eg 'IP56'

First
No.
Description
Second No.
Description
0
no protection.
0
no protection.
1
protection from ingress of objects of minimum 50mm in size.
1
protection against vertically falling drops of water.
2
protection from ingress of objects of minimum 12mm in size.
2
protected from direct sprays of water up to 15 degrees from the vertical.
3
protection from ingress of objects of minimum 2.5mm in size.
3
protected from direct sprays of water up to 60 degrees from the vertical.
4
protection from ingress of objects of minimum 1mm in size.
4
protected against spray from all directions with limited ingress.
5
limited dust protection.
5
protected against low-pressure jets from all directions with limited ingress.
6
totally protected against dust ingress.
6
protected against high-pressure jets from all directions with limited ingress.

7
protected against effects of immersion of between 150mm and 1metre for up to 30 mins.

8
protected against long periods of immersion under pressure.

IP56 would therefore equate to limited dust protection+protection against high-pressure jets from all directions with limited ingress.
