Internal Cameras

Although all the cameras supplied by InCam are capable of internal operation, some units are more suitable for indoor use as they are smaller and therefore more discreet. Such units are listed on this page. The cameras that are best-fit for a particular scenario are determined as part of a detailed site survey.

Set out below is a summary of the cameras currently on offer for any installation. Options are available for most of these cameras to further enhance their capabilities - such as wireless networking and audio support. A brief specification section is therefore included for each device. A more detailed review can be obtained by clicking on the Adobe ® Acrobat ® Reader icon (adjacent to each image) to launch the Axis data sheet in a new window (each data sheet is no larger than 400kb).

Software for use with any of these cameras is detailed on the software options page. Remember that all cameras are upgradable through Axis' firmware updates ensuring maximum return on investment and long installation life.

Axis 206, 206M (megapixel) and 206W (wireless)

Ideal Application: internal areas where a more discrete installation is required and where the environment offers good lighting for the required recording periods and where consistent temperature is maintained. The 206 is very similar to a 205 but can operate in lower light. The 206M is a higher-resolution version of the 206 series chassis offering very high detail from a remarkably small unit. The 206W is, essentially, a 206 unit further incorporating a wireless networking interface.

Based on the 205 chassis, these cameras are designed specifically for internal mounting as the flat profile of this camera means it sits neatly on any wall and is particularly discreet. The 206M (1.3 megapixel) offers enhanced imagery over the 205 and 206W and is aimed at applications requiring a higher level of close-up detail or a broader, wide-angle, view- such as an installation above a cash register.

Where appropriate, the 206W offers wireless networking (802.11b). Suitable more for office spaces where the aesthetics of the installation are more important and where consistent wireless network connectivity is available.

Axis 210

Ideal Application: internal areas where a very high quality image is required and where the environment offers good lighting for the required recording periods and where consistent temperature is maintained. This unit is more suited to slightly lower light conditions than the 205 and 206-series above.

The 210 camera became available in April 2004. Also designed specifically for internal mounting, this camera employs the use of 'progressive scan', MJPEG and MPEG-4 formatted data for exceptional quality digital imagery. Also incorporating built-in motion detection, this is a new generation of camera that will ultimately replace the 2100 unit (see below) as a preferred choice in many installations.

Axis 2100

Ideal Application: internal areas where quality imagery is required and where the environment offers good lighting for the required recording periods and where consistent temperature is maintained. This unit has the added benefit of supporting audio.

The 2100 was among the first generation of cameras produced by Axis. Suitable as an indoor-only device, it is a fully featured camera nonetheless. The 210 cameras listed above have, in many ways, superceded this unit - not least because of their more compact packaging, superior image sensor and greater frames/sec capability. However the 2100 remains a great workhorse for monitoring internal spaces and has the added benefit (over the 205,206 and 210) of supporting audio module connectivity without running to the expense of the 211A camera.

Briefly:
Resolution(s) to 640x480, digital 24-bit colour  about resolutions
Max frames/sec 10  about fps
Sensitivity 3-10,000 lux  about lux

Axis 2110

Ideal Application: internal/external areas where quality imagery is required and where the environment offers good lighting for the required recording periods and where consistent temperature is maintained. This unit can be mounted externally in an enclosure and has the added benefit of supporting audio.

Of the same generation as the 2100, the 2110 is an ideal choice for indoor and outdoor applications. Whilst fully capable of indoor work, the unit is also the most basic of the external-capable units. Incorporating a manual focus and zoom and slightly lower resolution than other, more feature-rich, units. Most recently superceded by the 211-series but still a decent camera nonetheless.

Axis 213 Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ)

Ideal Application: internal/external sites where total control of the camera is required with the ability to move around and zoom in on image areas. This camera's relatively high cost is put into perspective when it is considered that it can do the job of many units from a single, fixed mount.

The 213 series camera is a truly flexible device and builds upon its brilliant 2130 predecessor. Suitable for internal and external work, this unit delivers optimal image quality with the ability to pan, tilt and zoom around the live images - remotely controllable from an internet browser application. The unit is configurable for hanging or deskmount orientation - simply by rotating the image within the software. The camera supports MPEG-4 output for bandwidth-efficiency as well as MJPEG video streams. A built-in infra-red lamp may suffice for low-light/dark indoor work but has limited range. Stand-alone infra-red lamps turn the 213 into a formidable, outside surveillance proposition when installed in a dome housing.

The optional Connection Module brings access to alarm input and relay ports as well audio interfacing.
Note that the 213 is not an automatic-switching day/night camera. Full colour (day) and monochrome (night) modes are accessed via manual control of the camera's interface. The 221-series camera provides automatic day/night switching.

Briefly:
Resolution(s) to 768x576, digital 24-bit colour  about resolutions
Max frames/sec 25 progressive scan  about fps
Sensitivity minimum 1 lux (total darkness (b&w) with infra-red)  about lux
Motion detect? separate software
Zoom 26x optical zoom auto focus
Pan 340° sequence mode with guard tour
Tilt 100°
Dimensions (H)130x(W)104x(L)130, 0.7kg
Supplied 13V DC power, ceiling mount, MPEG-4 license
Environment 5-40°c ; 20-80% relative humidity

This unit is suitable for external installation when enclosed in a temperature-controlled dome that allows the camera to move through its full range of positions. If ceiling mounted, consideration needs to be given to the strength of that ceiling and the weight of this unit. How a camera works

Axis 211A

Ideal Application: internal or external areas where audio capability is a requirement.

The 211A camera is the market-leading 211 fixed-position IP camera extended further to include the functionality of the 2191 audio module - all wrapped in a compact design.
This camera employs the use of 'progressive scan', MPEG-4 and MJPEG formatted data for exceptional quality digital imagery. Also incorporating built-in motion detection, this is a new generation of camera that will ultimately replace the 2110 unit (see above) as a preferred choice in many installations.

Additionally the 211/211A support power-over-ethernet (PoE) - enabling the camera to receive power and network traffic over a single Cat5 data cable from a powered switch device. See power-over-ethernet.

Ideal Application: internal/external sites where a ceiling mount is required and where total control of the camera is required with the ability to move around and zoom in on image areas. This camera's relatively high cost is put into perspective when it is considered that it can do the job of many units from a single, fixed mount.

The 231d and 232d dome cameras are ideal for ceiling mounted placement. These are very high specification cameras that, using a suitable housing, can also be mounted externally. The cameras are true domes allowing total rotation and guard touring duties. They support MPEG-4 output for bandwidth-efficiency as well as MJPEG video streams. The separate Connection Module brings access to alarm input and relay ports.

The 232d adds day/night operation - allowing detailed imagery down to 0.005 lux in auto-switching black and white mode. As such, this unit is the preferred choice as an external dome solution. Stunning cameras.
